Can anyone break the hold the SEC has had on the National championship the past 6 years. The current championship run that the SEC is on is unmatched in the modern era of college football. I know there are some that would say that Auburn’s championship shouldn’t count seeing as they paid Cam Newton $250,000 to play one year year but it counts none the less. The odds say that with 5 teams already in the top 10 in the preseason polls that at least one SEC team will be playing for the championship. I think there are a few schools that have a chance to pull of upset if you can call it that. I say that because while the SEC has produced the best teams over the past 5-10 years but the media and pollsters have given SEC teams more credit than they deserve IMHO. There have been years in which other teams that have a better claim to play for the BCS championship and were passed over for a 1 or even 2 loss SEC team into the game instead. This will not happen going forward as the BCS has given way to a 4 team playoff.
Back to the teams that I think that have a chance to win a title this year. The team I like the most is FSU. The Noles have the top Defense in the country and a Sr quarterback in EJ Manual. When you add the schedule in the equation they are they easy call, if they can pull it off is yet to be seen but I like their chances.
The Next team I like is USC. They only question about the Trojans in their depth. With only 75 scholarship players compared to every other schools 85 is a big disadvantage. If USC can stay healthy then they have as good a chance as FSU.
